Breathtaking view of PNW mountains from the airplane before landing in PDX.
Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams sit on the Ring of Fire that Mt. Fuji is also part of. In a sense, I'm still connected to Japan by this huge volcanic system.
Leaving Japan behind and living in USA for more than 20 years have provoked mixed feelings within myself, some are good, some I don't like.
However, I have two cuntries I greet "I'm home!" and they also welcome my return.
Living in-between position, going back and force between two countries with quite different culture and society, could be blessing... at least an interesting way to live.

ポートランドに戻ってくると、ここでも山が迎えてくれます
それも左手に見えるだけで３つも
さらに右前方にはマウント・フッド、見通しがよければもっと南の山々も望めます
遠く離れていても、リング・オブ・ファイア（環太平洋火山帯）で日本とつながっているんだなぁ～、と思います
母国である日本を離れて海外に住むということは、いつもふたつの国の間でひっぱられて、宙ぶらりんということでもあり
それが良い時もあり、嫌な時もあるのですが
「ただいま～」と言える国がふたつあり
「お帰り～」と迎えてくれる場所がふたつある
というのも悪くないのかも、と機内からこの山々を見ていると思えてきます
